Summary:
The purpose of the Abner Longley Water Storage Facility project was to provide greater reliability within the Lebanon Utilities Water System. The project included a 2-million-gallon ground storage tank, booster station, and 16-inch water main. Prior to completion of the project, the Water System had only 750,000 gallons of storage, which with an average demand of around 2 MGD would only provide around 9 hours of redundancy should there be an issue with the water supply.
The additional 2 million gallons of storage provided by the project increases that time to 33 hours. The Water Storage Facility helps regulate pressure, increases chlorine residuals, and provides more flow for firefighting. The project provides for a more resilient overall water system.
